Can a Lithium Battery Charger Charge a Lead-Acid Battery?
There are two main types of batteries on the market: lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries. Their chargers must not be used interchangeably, otherwise the battery will be permanently damaged.
Lead-acid battery chargers are usually designed with a 2-stage or 3-stage charging mode, and the voltage levels of lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries are incompatible.
There are also many types of lithium batteries, with different battery performance and protection board parameters. Therefore, unlike lead-acid batteries, lithium batteries do not have universal chargers. Lithium batteries are generally equipped with a dedicated charger from the factory. To protect lithium batteries, only matching special chargers should be used.

Precautions for Charging Lithium Batteries
- To extend the lifespan of lithium batteries, charge and discharge them regularly. Get into the habit of charging after using about 80% of the power; do not wait until the battery is completely empty. Also, avoid storing lithium batteries for a long time without use.
- When charging an e‑bike battery, turn off the power lock and do not invert the battery. Charge it fully in one go, not in multiple short sessions.
- Batteries should not be stored in a low-power state. If the battery is not in use, fully charge it once a month.
- Always use the matching dedicated charger for lithium batteries. Due to different materials and production processes, technical requirements for chargers vary. Only a special charger can maximize battery life and avoid safety risks.
- When the lithium battery is out of power, turn off the power and stop riding. Do not drive using rebound voltage, as it will cause severe over-discharge and shorten the battery life.
- After the charging indicator shows full, continue float charging for 1–2 hours before unplugging; do not stop charging immediately.
